PACT brings together significant features of the historic Erie Canal in central New York stretching from
Rome to Port Byron, NY.  Individual historic sites and museums along the 50 mile path, present a

variety of information and stories related to its construction, its important structures, its boats,
industries along its banks, and its people.   Visitors to this area will enhance their knowledge of the Erie
Canal  and its impact on the political, economic and social development of the 19th century, thus
encouraging a young nation’s expansion and prosperity.
